JT DPS 5

This tour visits the Eastern parts of the island, a less commercialized area,  with interesting relics of bygone days. First stop will be to see the attractive traditional Balinese ”Ikat” or tie-dye fabric being produced at a weaving factory in Gianyar. Observe the production process  of weaving, tying and dying, of this popular fabric, with an opportunity to purchase if wished.  We visit also the Kerta Gosa, an ancient traditional pavilion of the Court of Justice of Klungkung, where Kings of bygone days meted out punishments in accordance with crimes or sins committed. The Kerta Gosa will interest with it’s ceiling frescoes of the various punishments to be meted out in the after world, and the Bale Kambang also known as the Floating Pavilion, decorated with ceiling frescoes depicting ancient Hindu epics.  Further east  stop in at Tenganan, a walled and previously isolated  village of the indigenous people of Bali, Bali Aga whose ancestry dates back to pre Hindu times. This village setup is entirely different from other village layouts throughout the island and Tenganan is known for it’s unique animistic based traditions. Lunch will be taken at a seaside property on Candi Dasa Beach, overlooking the ocean (lunch on own account,) and we visit the Tirta Gangga, or  royal bathing pools at the ancient summer residence  of previous Kings of Karangasem. On the return route a stop will be made to observe simple sea salt making methods on the coast  at Kusamba.
